dc.description.abstract Lecture notes for the discipline: " International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea and the Use of Radar Systems and Automatic Radar Plotting Aids in Diverging vessels " for full-time and part-time students was prepared by: Kalinichenko Yevgeniy - Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of "NCS", Master Mariner; Koliesnik Oleksandr - Senior Lecturer of the Department of "NCS", Master Mariner; Tomchakovsky Georgiy - Senior Lecturer of the Department of "NCS", Master Mariner according to the current working plan. The lecture notes considers the " International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea and the Use of Radar Systems and Automatic Radar Plotting Aids in Diverging vessels ". The Collision Regulations, also known as COLREGs, are a set of rules that govern the safe navigation of vessels at sea and help prevent collisions between ships. These regulations are crucially important. The most obvious reason for the importance of Collision Regulations is in their name – they are designed to prevent collisions between vessels. By defining the responsibilities of vessels in various situations, such as crossing, overtaking, or meeting head-on, COLREGs reduce the likelihood of accidents occurring. In summary, the Collision Regulations are essential for promoting safety, preventing collisions, protecting the marine environment, ensuring legal compliance, and facilitating efficient maritime operations. Adherence to these rules is paramount for the well-being of seafarers, the security of maritime trade, and the sustainability of marine ecosystems. Designed for students of navigational speciality of maritime institutions, it may be useful for navigators of sea transport, fishing and research vessels uk_UA
