Lecture notes for the discipline: "NAVIGATION INFORMATION SYSTEMS" for full-time and part-time students was prepared by: Kalinichenko Yevgeniy - Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of "NCS" ONMU, Master Mariner; Tomchakovsky Georgiy - Senior Lecturer of the Department of "NCS", ONMU Master Mariner; Koliesnik Oleksandr - Senior Lecturer of the Department of "NCS" ONMU, Master Mariner according to the current curricula. The basic concepts of electronic charts and navigation information computer systems (ECDIS, ECS), in which the routing is performed on electronic charts, are presented. Technical, informational, linguistic support of navigation systems with electronic charts is considered, their functional capabilities are described, and IMO requirements for ECDIS are highlighted. Particular attention is paid to the limitations and disadvantages of ECDIS. Designed for students of navigational speciality of maritime institutions, it may be useful for navigators of sea transport, fishing and research vessels. This course is designed in accordance with:
-The Model Supplementary Professional Programme of Sections A-II/1, A-II/2, B1/12 of the ADR Code 78 in terms of training in the use of ECDIS. The course meets the recommendations of IMO Model Course 1.27 "Operational Use of Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS)" in terms of the scope and content of the programme.
